The OH&S Consultation Course is conducted by WorkCover Accredited Trainers.
This course is designed for staff in the hospitality industry to become OH&S Representatives and / or for them to join the OH&S (safety) committee within their workplaces. Participants will gain knowledge and skills in OH&S legislation, risk management techniques, consultation between Employers and Employees and will be given practical exercises to complete. Successful completion of the course will give participants the WorkCover OH&S Consultation course certificate which enables them to become the workplace OH&S representative and join the OH&S committee where applicable.
This course has been developed by NSW WorkCover Authority and meets the legislative requirements for the training of OH&S Committee members and OH&S Representatives so they may contribute to participative arrangements for the management of occupational health and safety.
Learning Aims
Understanding the requirements for effective management of health and safety and the importance of OHS consultation;
Identify the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Codes;
Explain the requirements for consultation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 and the mechanisms for consultation including workplace committees and OHS representatives;
Complete practical application of the processes for identifying, assessing and controlling hazards and risks in the workplace;
Participate in effective communication techniques as a Committee;
Identify the requirements for effective OHS Management Systems, their development, implementation, audit and review;
Describe continuous improvement in OHS through consultation and the means for implementation, monitoring and evaluation of this process.
A certificate of attendance will be issued upon completion and payment of the course.
