Women in Tourism & Hospitality – $20K scholarship opportunity

Australia’s hotel, tourism and hospitality industry is fortunate enough to be comprised of many talented women who provide memorable and unsurpassed experiences for guests throughout Australia on a daily basis. From the concierge to the general manager, from the five star hotel to the country pub, and from the tour guide to the CEO – women make this industry tick day in, day out.

In line with the AHA (NSW)’s commitment to regional NSW, we are currently searching for the next recipient of the annual Women in Tourism & Hospitality’s scholarship.

This prestigious award – now in its third year – gives a young woman from regional NSW the opportunity to achieve her career goals through a $20,000 scholarship grant from the AHA (NSW)’s Charitable Foundation.

The lucky recipient will undertake a three-year Bachelor of Business degree (International Hotel and Resorts Management) at the award-winning Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.

There is no doubt that women are the backbone of the industry’s 40,000 plus regional workforce and play a major role in continuing to develop our tourism and hospitality industries – that is why AHA (NSW) Charitable Foundation is proud to sponsor this important initiative.

We would like to formally invite you to nominate a woman you feel would be a worthy recipient: a woman who demonstrates the qualities of regional NSW – hardworking with a strong desire to succeed in the hospitality industry.

Your preferred candidate could be a staff or family member or any deserving young woman in your local community.

Many of you will recall last year’s winner – Natasha Moss of Mittagong – who is now embarking on her first year of study at BMIHMS.

The 2012 scholarship winner will be announced at the Women in Tourism & Hospitality cocktail function on Thursday, 23 August, 2012.

To nominate a candidate follow these easy steps:

  1. Read through the BMIHMS information pack.
  2. Fill out the BMIHMS application form.
  3. Have the candidate fill out the AHA (NSW)’s questionnaire.
  4. Send the application form and questionnaire along with a current resume of the candidate to:
